Obituary of Lois Spears

Lois Evelyn (Wilson) Spears, 96, Indianapolis, passed into God's hands on December 11, 2010. She was blessed to live a long healthy life and God continued that blessing on her journey home. Lois was born October 19, 1914 in Portland, Indiana to John and Dora Sullivan Wilson who precede her in death. Her father died when she was five years old and she was raised by Uncle Amos and Auntie Maude Byrd in Bluffton, Indiana. Her siblings Joseph Wilson, Gwendolyn Jeanette Bireley, Keith Wilson and Cecelia Phillips all precede her in death. She graduated Arsenal Technical High School June 1932. She married Richard Harrison Spears August 31, 1935 who also precedes her in death. Lois worked as a hairdresser at J.C. Penney and also worked at Victory Field, Sears Roebuck & Co., and Taylor Bakery. She was a member of the Garden City Christian Church. One of her favorite activities was singing in the church choir. Survivors include Children: Beverly Jo (Elton) Newhart, Sharon Lee (James) Brown, Richard Wayne (Eva) Spears, and Keith Albert (Susie) Spears. Grandchildren: Jodi Newhart Charlton, Julie Newhart Walker, Rhonda Hammons, Robin Hammons, Monty Hammons, Guy Hammons, Bradley Hammons, Kelly Spears Bowser, Ryan Spears, Jason Spears, Terry Spears, and Brandon Spears. Great grandchildren: Seth Charlton, Gabriel Charlton, Ethan Charlton, Samuel Walker, Grace Walker, Olivia Walker, Joseph Keith, Jeffery Keith, Zachery Petty, Torrie Petty, Scott Hammons, Tylere Hammons, Kaeman Hammons, Lindsey Hammons, Mitchell Hammons, Brittany Hammons, Ashley Hammons, Brooke Hammons, Bradley Hammons, Jessica Werger, Hannah Bowser, Cory Bowser, Mallory Bowser, Emelia Spears, Emily Spears, Morgan Spears, Kendall Spears, Savannah Spears, Madeleine Spears, and Avaleigh Spears. Great great grandchildren: Jayden Petty, Corbin Petty, Dominic Petty and DeHaven Petty. Mom/Grandma was the most loving, giving person who was adored by her large family. Christmas with Grandma Lois was always a special time. Grandma played carols on the piano with the family singing. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
