Ryan Alexander Orkey age 21 of Indianapolis, Indiana transitioned from his earthly life to that of eternity on April 9, 2021 in a tragic motor vehicle accident in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ryan was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Michael Orkey and Jennifer (Carter) Orkey on May 24, 1999. Ryan was committed to the love of his life and best friend, Maddie Culp, and he was planning to ask her to marry him. He was the cherished grandson of James L. Carter and Lois Carter (deceased). He was adored by his extensive family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a friend to everyone he met and his friends were his family. Ryan graduated from North Central High School in 2017. Ryan lived his life fast and furious just like his favorite movie series. A statement from the series that is most befitting of how he lived his life is, he lived a quarter mile at a time. His passions were baseball and BMX. His bike was one of his first loves. There truly is no way to fully encompass Ryan's heart and personality into words. He radiated positive energy into the lives of everyone around him. He was fiercely loyal and loved deeply. He wore his heart on his sleeve.
Ryan was generous with his kindness, compassion, compliments and hugs. He was a champion for the underdog, marginalized, and downtrodden. Ryan was constantly on the move, not scared to bust a move, and recklessly adventurous. He was fun loving with a spontaneity and silliness that surpassed reason. He was a defender of Jesus and felt comfortable enough in the house of the Lord to ride his bike in the halls. He will be desperately missed, but the ripple effect of his love and kindness moves among and through the many people that encountered him.
Visitation and a service will be held on April 24th . Family has requested casual attire of bright colors.
Jeans and t-shirt acceptable and preferred.
A visitation will be open to the public from 10 am - 1 pm. A private service will be held for family from 1 pm - 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, Ryan's family is accepting monetary contributions to be used for a future memorial in Ryan's honor.
