Obituary of Kendred Wilson

Kendred Leleith Wilson was born in Gary, Indiana on January 16, 1977. Kendred, better known as "Kay," was the second eldest out of five siblings, and the eldest of four from the union of Kenneth H. and Eugena Elizabeth Wilson, who preceded her in death. Kay departed this life serenely on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Carmel, Indiana. Kay was a member of the Honor Society and graduate of West Side High School in Gary, Indiana. Upon graduation she was accepted into Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. While at Stevens, she participated in competitive fencing and graduated with honors. Upon graduation she accepted a job offer with UTC Aerospace Systems (formerly known as Hamilton Sundstrand) as an Aeronautical Engineer. Kay, taking after her mother Eugena, greatly valued education and self-improvement and accomplished a number of professional achievements in her brief life. During her career at UTC Aerospace, Kay was a notable employee who advanced through the ranks of the company while also obtaining a dual master's degree focusing on leadership. Kay professed her belief in God and our Lord Jesus at an early age and was a member of First A.M.E. Church in Gary, Indiana. She continued her faith by joining other churches where she resided. Kay was also heavily involved in several charitable organizations including the MS Society and Susan G. Komen. Kay was greatly loved by her family. She leaves behind four siblings, a niece, and a nephew who will always cherish her memory and legacy: Nathaniel Thompson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Robert Joseph Wilson of New Brighton, Minnesota; Julia Renee (mother of niece, Eugena Veronica) Wilson; Kenneth Eugene (Cyernae and Eugene Shea, nephew) Wilson along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Kendred will always be remembered as being happy, funny, kind-hearted, charitable, hard-working, courageous, and the strength of her family. While she was here Kay has touched the lives of countless individuals with whom she has crossed paths. She was the best of us and will be greatly missed.
