Obituary of McKellar Beatrice Neely
McKellar B. Fanroy was born on October 26, 1929, in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was the daughter of the late James Beverly Fanroy and Anna Laura Jordan Fanroy.
She was the third of seven children all of whom preceded her in death except for the youngest brother James B. Fanroy Jr. (Michelle)
McKellar professed her love for Christ at a young age and was baptized at Capitol Avenue SDA Church.
She served on the Usher Board, was an MV leader and the first MV Federation Leader.
As an AY leader she was most passionate about working with groups of young people and creating skits and plays.
Aunt Kella as she was called by her nieces and nephews was the permeating energy of the Fanroy family.
She attended Capitol Avenue SDA school and Oakwood Academy in Huntsville, Alabama.
While at Oakwood Academy she met her soon to be husband Cubith V. Neely Sr.
The two were married and shared 62 years of marriage until Cubith V. Neely proceeded her in death on January 28, 2017.
McKellar, affectionately called "Mac" worked a few part-time jobs.
A few of her favorite things were reading novels, watching her favorite soap operas, caring for others, talking on the phone for hours with her siblings while speaking a language only her sisters understood.
Born to this union where two biological son's Cubith V. Neely Jr. (Gwen) and Timothy D. Neely (Gina).
McKellar always wanted a little girl which led to the couple opening their beautiful home and caring for 62 foster children as their own.
The bond created with a few remains to this day.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, James Fanroy Jr.; two sons, Cubith V. Neely Jr. (Gwen) and Timothy D. Neely (Gina); seven daughters, Jacqueline, Charlene, Jenny, April, Melissa, Tiffany & My-jerrier; 18 grandchildren, Kiauna, Cubith III, Arielle, Andre, Jasmine, Kandyce, Kameron, Jada, James, McKellar, Jevar, Aaron, Daniel, AJ, Tonesha, Tyrese, Karl Jr. & Lola: 30 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
