Obituary of Frank Eugene Scott
Frank Eugene Scott was born on July 24, 1929, in Spencer, Indiana. He was the 7th of 10 children born to Wilbur and Jessie Scott. Frank's parents and all 9 siblings preceded him in death.
Orphaned at a young age, Frank spent most of his formative years living in the homes of foster families with his brother Herman. Unable to walk, Frank was Herman's primary care giver.
Frank was no stranger to hard work as a child. He worked before and after school delivering newspapers and washing milk bottles giving his pay to the foster parents who housed him. Frank worked at the Indianapolis Water Company for 39 years. Frank was the 1st and only African American President of the Water Company Union for 28 years. He was tireless in his efforts to fight for all employees for fair treatment and equal opportunity. Frank joined the Army as soon as he was of age and served in the Korean Conflict. He was proud of his military service. There was hardly a time Frank wasn't wearing his "Korean Veteran Cap". In 2018 Frank was invited to join the "Honor Guard's" trip to Washington DC to acknowledge and thank veterans for their military service.
Frank was accompanied by his friend and fellow Oasis of Hope Deacon Darryl Williams.
After retirement from the Indianapolis Water Company, Frank was hired by a talent agency and appeared in numerous TV commercials, and an industrial training film. He was also in the Negro baseball movie "Soul of the Game" Frank loved sports. He was an excellent swimmer and deep-sea diver; he played softball and loved to bowl! The trophies Frank won are numerous! Frank was a loyal Indiana Pacers fan!
Frank loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he loved his church home
Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, joining then College Avenue Baptist church in 1987. Frank served as Deacon, and Men's Ministry Chairman. You could always find Frank in the Oasis kitchen helping cook and serve for the men's monthly prayer breakfast.
