Obituary of Geneva Chiplis
Geneva Paul Chiplis 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 10, 2009. She was born in Indianapolis on April 18, 1919 to Thomas Fredrick and Denvie (Hudelson) Paul. She graduated from Beech Grove HS and attended Indiana University, where she majored in physical education and enjoyed her passion for playing sports, especially basketball. She was IU's most ardent fan. Family and friends knew not to call or visit when her Hoosiers were playing. Geneva was an Indiana Bell retiree; and a member of the IU Alumni Assoc, Society of Indiana Pioneers and held several offices with the DAR. She volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul and the ICVA. She enjoyed hobbies of genealogy, travel and growing tomatoes. Survivors include her husband, Robert Chiplis; children, Michele Beemer of MA, Jeffry Chiplis of OH, Jane Barnett of OR and Ann Roberta of HI; and sister, Polly Aley of AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3354 W 30th St, Indpls, IN 46222, at 11:30 a.m., with visitation there beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Stevens Mortuary & Family Center, 5520 W 10th St, Indpls. www.stevensmortuary.net
