Obituary
Obituary of Ivy Lee Wesley
MS. IVY LEE WESLEY, was born on August 11, 1939, to Lula Wesley, in Cassyville, Mississippi.
Her mother passed away while giving birth to her, and she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Lutitia and Hezekiah Wesley.
She was one of three children.
IVY was a product of the Mississippi Public School System.
IVY spent her early years in Mississippi, but she later migrated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she remained until her death.
IVY was employed at Commercial Tile for many years until the company closed.
She was later employed at Hooverwood nursing home until she retired in 2001.
IVY professed her faith in Christ Jesus at an early age and attended church regularly while in Mississippi.
During her early years in Indianapolis, Ivy was an active member of Providence AME church.
She continued her membership there until she moved from the area and the church bus was no longer able to provide transportation.
She then began attending church services in her senior citizen building.
She made daily study of the Word a priority.
SISTER, as she was affectionately known, almost always had a smile on her face.
She had a quiet, unassuming spirit.
She loved life and enjoyed living it.
Her lifestyle was simple, but for her it was complete.
Her children and grandchildren were her world, and she spent as much time with them as she could.
For many years she would cook Sunday dinner and have everyone over just to enjoy the fellowship with her "babies".
Her grandchildren had a special place in her heart, and she loved them deeply.
She truly enjoyed music and dancing.
If ever you wanted to see her really move you only had to play her favorite song, Adorn, by Miguel.
IVY LEE WESLEY departed this earthly life on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the age of eighty-two years, six-months, and fourteen days.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lutitia and Hezekiah Wesley; brothers Roosevelt Wesley and Dan Brown; sister Helen Herring (Samuel Herring).
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Greggory Morrow; daughters Sharon Puryear-Roberts and Mattie Wesley; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Mandy Wesley and Dora Brown; a host of nieces and nephews; and other beloved relatives and friends.
