Dorothy Lois Hill Wilcher Sunrise May 18, 1934 Sunset March 21, 2022 Dorothy Lois Hill Wilcher was born May 18, 1934, the fourth of 11 children born to the union of Arthur Sr and Minnie Hill in Auburn, AL. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was active in the family church - Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was involved in the Sunday School BTU, Youth Choir and Jr Missionary Society. She attended and graduated from Lee County Training School in 1952 and then went on to Alabama State College in Montgomery, AL. She later moved to Gary, IN and married Benjamin Wilcher, Sr to which four children were born. Dorothy retired from US Steel in 1998 but continued her career with the Lord until He called his good and faithful servant home. She served in various positions with New Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She was the 7th President of the Missionary Society, a member of the Missionary Circle, Naomi Circle and past president of the Mass Choir. She was also a member of the Mother's Board. Dorothy moved to Indianapolis in 2017 and became a member of New Direction Christian Church where she continued to serve and praise God. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Minnie Hill, and two siblings, Thelma Lucille Hill and James Darden Hill, Sr. She is survived by her four children, Charles (Iona) Wilcher of Markham, IL, Cryslynn Wilcher of Nashville, TN, Benjamin (Tonya) Wilcher, Jr of Glenn Heights, TX, and Kymberly Coffee of Riverview, FL as well as her loving and special son in law Darryl Coffee and her devoted and loving granddaughter and caregiver Deisha Washington. She also leaves 8 siblings Arthur (Bennie) Hill, Jr, Sarah Mills, Nelle Crump, Mabel (Willie) Robinson, Larry (La Barbara) Hill, Otis (Alisha) Hill, Orliss (Mary Jo) Hill, and JoAnn Johnson, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Dorothy from her coworkers, family in Christ, church members and extended family loved her and will miss her. Her love of family, God and church, cooking, and her sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew and couldn't help but love her.
