Condolences
I knew Frank, John, and Joe back in the 80's when I worked at the Union Jack. They were all good guys, especially Frank. Spearmint Frank. May he rest in peace. Sorry for your troubles. Regards, John W.
Holland Cousins, While we aren't able to be there, please know that you and Frank will be in our thoughts and prayers, today especially. I think Phil put it pretty well when he said that Frank was a great favorite with our family. So true. Joel & Diane Martineau
Yes, Frank truly had a very kind and generous heart and spirit and loved his family, friends and nature. May you find solace with the knowledge that Frank peacefully crossed over to the other side, where his loving spirit shall endure for eternity.
My sympathy to Frank's loved ones. I, too, am a member of Frank's LCHS Class of '65. I have such fond memories of him as a beautiful, sweet boy. I'm saddened he is gone so soon.
Frank was an exceptional drummer with a unique style that no one else ever duplicated. He was an original musician and a good soul. We stated playing in a band called the "Surfing Birds" when I was in Junior High. This was before the Hollands moved across the street from Lawrence Central High School. There wasn't much Surf in Lawrence, Indiana in those days so we changed the name to the Chancellors. Frank was 3 years older than me and I looked up to him and learned a lot from him. His parents were very kind to me at a time when it mattered. Frank and Virginia Holland raised Frank Jr. to be a kind and gentile human being and I love them all. I can shut my eyes now and hear Frank singing some of his creative verses to "Louie Louie" in about 1964. I love you Frank and I will miss you. Arlin Troutt
My sympanthies to the family. May he rest in peace.
To the extended Holland Family: My best memories of Frank were when he was beating those drums with his head thrown back belting out a round of "Hang On Sloopy". I also remember his fun laugh and good nature. May he rest in peace. My condolences to you all. Jim Bruce LCHS "65"
Dear Holland Family, I am holding you in my thoughts and in my heart as you travel this road of loss and grief. You have suffered many losses in a short time, and it is good that you have each other to lean on at this time. My heart goes out to you from "across the pond" in England. Love to you, Tricia
I so sorry to the bad news about Frank dying. We went to Lawrence Central together. My God bless your hearts now and forever.
Joe So sorry to hear about Frank. I hate this getting older. Wish we were all still back in highschool. Hope you are doing ok. You are in my Thoughts and Prayers. Love, Sarah Johnson
Frank, As I write these very lines, I'm looking at two pictures of you, which were taken in August 1965 during our 45rpm demo recording session in a studio at the old WIFE radio station building. I've also been listening to 60s music in your memory -- many of them songs that we played. Yet, somehow, I think that Don McLean's opening words to American Pie (1972) seem fitting: "A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile; and I know if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance and maybe they'd be happy for a while..." Well...did you ever make them dance, and what incredible fun we had. Thanks for all the wonderful memories, my friend, and your great generosity. You won't be forgotten. Phil
