I have known Jimmy for a long time but really got to know him through KSKJ bowling and being at the Nash. His zest for life, great sense of humor and kindness will be greatly missed by many including me! Love to Jennifer and the whole Velikan family. RIP
I met Jim back in 1974 at Naval Avionics and have been close friends with him since.
His never ending smile and ability to keep a person in stitches with his wit and humor will be terribly missed.
Like Jim, I attended Purdue and we hit it off and got season tickets for both football and basketball starting in 1979.
We kept going to all the football games together with his wife, The Chief, and finally his daughter, Baby V (Jennifer).
We continued going to a number of basketball games every year after I moved to southern Indiana.
There are so many funny stories that I could tell, but ....
Jim was the ultimate Gentle Giant and I will miss him so much from now on at the games and at Arni's for Victory Pizza.
Godspeed Jim!
I am so proud to have known you!
I’m very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I met him through Judy Velikan when we both worked with Girl Scouts, and he’d come along sometimes when camping, etc. also enjoyed bowing with the KSKJ group. Jennifer, and my daughter Melissa have been friends since grade school. I will miss him. Prayers to all family & friends.
I only knew Jimmy for a few years after meeting Marty. I am so blessed to have known him. He was always smiling. He had such a great smile, funny stories, a gentle soul. I did not realize he was a Cleveland Indians fan like myself. I would have enjoyed sharing stories with him!! Jimmy will be missed. Marty and I send our hearts, prayers and condolences. We love you Jennifer. Lynn
