Donald J. Marcotte, 93, of Indianapolis passed away on October 6, 2023.
I was born in Kankakee, Il to Thomas M. and Viola M. Marcotte on July 18, 1930. I have lived the past forty- plus years on the far west side of Indianapolis in the “Chapel” area. I met Elsie Mahler, the Love of My Life, at a Catholic Young Adults dance in South Bend, IN. We married May of 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend. The Lord blessed us with four wonderful daughters, Ann Marie (Tim) Miller, Sherry (Matt) Pesch, Mary Beth (Tim) Duffy and Susan (Cory) Zurcher. They have given us eight beautiful grandchildren; Claire, Rachael, Liam, Emily, Kohl, Eli, Jillian and Jesse; bonus granddaughter, Ashley R. Miller; and a great granddaughter, Gwendolyn. Sisters Lorelle Homberg and Marita Baker survive. Brother Tom Marcotte is deceased.
I obtained a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University and worked my entire career in the fields of guided missiles, military vehicles and commercial aviation at Bendix, Detroit Diesel Allison and I finished out my working years at American Trans Air.
I was a lifelong member and active volunteer at St. Christopher parish in Speedway. I was also a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Mishawaka,IN.
I enjoyed spending time with my wife, children, grandchildren, writing and gardening.
