Obituary of Steven J. Belich

Steven John Belich, 72, of Avon, IN passed away on August 15, 2023. Steve was born in Omaha, NE, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at an early age, and was a resident of Hendricks County for over 37 years. He was a semi driver for FedEx Freight and missed it when he retired. He loved music, especially Elvis, and dancing. He was a life-long Pittsburgh Steelers fan and race fan. Steve especially loved the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR. It was a very rare occasion for him to miss a race or qualifications at the Speedway track. His first set of wheels was a motorcycle and from then on, he was a motorcycle/ Harley rider. Once he discovered antique cars, he was hooked. His first was a 1955 Chevy BelAir hardtop and from that point he became a “trader afficionado”. You never knew what vehicle you’d find in his garage. Besides cars, Steve was a collector of gas pumps and any antique gas/car items. He was a very proud and active member of Indy Hi-Winders car club where he served as President six times. Steve was an animal lover of all kinds and was fond of watching his yearly humming birds.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, John Belich; his mother, Barbara Belich Couch; and his aunt, Dorothy Williams. He is survived by his wife, Emy Belich; his fur-buddy, Hobo; his sisters, Suzy Wilson (Don), Sherry Stogsdill and Sherman Stogsdill; daughter, Erin Hamilton (Josh); nieces, Angie Matney (Steve), Jody Wilhoite (Daniel), Jenny Hatfull (Jay), Sarah Fentz (Dirk), and Jessica Cottongim (Jeremiah); special sister-in-law, Chris Ganc (Bill Smith); and cousin, Herb Dewbrew, Jr.; his beloved grandchildren, Max, Luke and Emma Hamilton; and his special posse, Bill Jones, Jim Sickles, Jim Fivecoat and Bill Raines.

A Celebration of Life will immediately follow services at The American Legion 145 4812 E. Main Street Avon, IN 46123.
