Obituary of "Corky" Andretti
Carolyn Hope "Corky" Andretti passed from this life on Sunday, May 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. "Corky" was born February 27, 1942 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania to Ellwood "Reds" Stofflet and Mary (Bensing) Stofflet.
"Corky's" family and Catholic faith were everything to her, and she and her beloved husband, Aldo, passed those values on to their children. "Corky" was Aldo's biggest supporter – first in his racing career and later in his entrepreneurial endeavors. She ensured all 5 of her children received a Catholic education and helped each of them pursue their dreams. Her role as Grammy to her 11 grandchildren may have been her greatest joy. She was unbelievably proud of them and would tell all who would listen about their various whereabouts and accomplishments. Most recently she could be found picking up the youngest of her grandchildren (and any number of their friends) from school and taking them for an after school treat before delivering them home. She was also looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother in November.
A member of St. Malachy parish in Brownsburg for over 50 years, "Corky" was a devout Catholic. She was a model of what it means to live a Catholic life. Among many other things, she prayed daily, attended Mass, volunteered in her younger years, and gave to the poor. She was blessed to have been in the presence of Pope St. John Paul II while on a trip to Rome. Her special devotion to our Blessed Mother led her to making a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, where Mary has been appearing since 1981 to give messages to the world, and to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, the first Marian apparition approved by the Catholic Church in the United States.
"Corky" was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Aldo, and their son John. She is survived by her sisters Harriet (Ken) Horton and Jeanne (Julius “Kuch”) Kuchar, her daughter Carolyn, her husband Scott Molander and their two daughters – Maggie and Sarah; her son Mark, his wife Diane and their three children – Matthew (Michelle), Kirsten, and Colin; John's widow Nancy and their three children – Jarett, Olivia, and Amelia; her daughter Mary Jo, her husband Bobby Dial and their three sons – Dylan, Kasey, and Jayce; her son Adam and his wife Tabitha; and several nieces and nephews.
The Andretti family would like to extend special thanks to the teams at IU West and IU Methodist Hospital for providing excellent care and ensuring "Corky's" comfort in her final hours.
