Obituary of Betty J. Reeves
Betty Jean (Monroe) Reeves 94, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on March 14, 2023.
Betty was born on May 6, 1928 in Indianapolis, to Eugene and Susannah Monroe she was the youngest of 4 daughters. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life to her 10 children. She was a charter member and actively involved at St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. She worked at Sears after her children were older.
She loved her family ALL her family and was the proud Matriarch to 107. She had 19 children, 36 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grands and 4 Great Great Grands. She was always so excited to hear of a new family member on the way. She “won” many certificates at Grandparents Day at the schools of her grand children for having the most grandchildren.
She also had many “children” that she didn’t actually raise, but took in as her own. She loved everyone! Memorial Day weekend was her favorite weekend of the year, as she hosted “all her children” before and after the race.
She proudly was deemed the Matriarch of Firefighters and would often tell EVERYONE her husband was a firefighter and so was her 2 sons, son-in-law, 4 grandsons and a great nephew! She loved being involved with the retirees’ group from the Indianapolis firefighters.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Allen E Reeves, daughter Theresa and son Timothy. She is survived by her sons, Charles Reeves (Brenda), Robert Reeves (Patty Reeves), Michael Reeves (Shelley), and Stephen Reeves (Lisa); daughters, Patricia Stephens (Denvil), Mary Jane Huber (Greg), Elizabeth Dininger (Dennis), and Alice MacGruder (Dennis). 36 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grands (with one on the way), and 4 Great Greats.
