Michael Wayne "Fish" Fishburn 58, of Lawrence (Indianapolis), passed away May 20. He was born April 2, 1952 in Indianapolis where he lived his entire life. Michael graduated from Warren Central H.S. in 1970 and has a Business degree from Indiana University. Michael joined the Lawrence Police Dept. April 5, 1974 and retired August 16, 2006. While on the police dept. he founded the S.W.A.T. team where was the S.W.A.T. Commander. He was also the Captain of Investigations and a Firearms Instructor and Deputy Chief of Police. Retiring after 32 years of service, Michael took the position of Coordinator for Lawrence Township Schools Safety and Security. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #753 and F.O.P. #159. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Fishburn. He is survived by his wife, Laura Fishburn; and his mother, Doris Fishburn. Visitation will be held Sun., May 23 at Lawrence North High School Gymnasium, 7802 Hague Road, Indpls, 46256 from 3-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. service. A graveside service will be held Mon. May 24 at 10 a.m. at Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. www.stevensmortuary.net
