Obituary of Thomas R. Kavanagh

Thomas Robert Kavanagh age 84 passed away on September 9, 2022. Born in Montrose, PA on January 10, 1937 to Michael J. Kavanagh and Bernetta (Donlin) Kavanagh. Graduated from Cathedral Grade School in 1951 and Cathedral High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years before being employed in the Model Shop at Western Electric for 25 years. He retired in 1997 from Noel-Smyser Engineering prior to open heart surgery. As a member of the mended Hearts Chapter 78 support group, he distributed literature to post-heart surgery patients at Methodist Hospital for 14 years. He married Louise Kay Morrison on January 19, 1981. They enjoyed traveling to many Mended Hearts national conventions throughout the country. He served as an usher at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church for 52 years. He and Kay adopted Christina and Michael in 1985. Tom was predeceased by his parents, sister Patricia McCann, beloved uncle Monsignor Richard Kavanagh and close cousin, Donald Tiernan of Vermont. He is survived loving wife, Kay, sister Lynn Albrecht, children, Michael Kavanagh, Christina Poindexter (Lamont), grandchildren Denzel (Natashia), Alexis Coleman, Mitae Moore and 2 great-grandchildren, besides many nieces and nephews, Thanks to Paradigm Hospice care for their assistance keep him comfortable at home. Special thanks to Music Therapist, Becky, Nurse Kelli, Aides Ladonna and Leandre. Thanks to caregivers at Brownsburg Health Care Center in his final days. Family requests no flowers, in lieu of flowers donations to one’s choice.
