Obituary of Ester Simmons

Ester Ann Simmons passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on May 18, 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ester was born to OD Carter and Julia Ann Daley Carter on May 15, 1942 in Pulaski, Tennessee. She completed her education and graduated from Bridgeport High School in Pulaski, Tennessee. A few years later, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to her siblings. Ester lived her life rooted in the word of God. She was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church and served in the choir for several years. Ester was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson S. Simmons, daughters Nicole T. Lane and Diane Bond. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and leaves the following family members to cherish her memory: son David Owens (Christie L. Owens); daughter Brenda K. Malone of Alexandria, Virginia and, brother Jimmy Carter of San Diego, California. With selfless love and dedication, she committed her life to her 14 grandchildren: Victor Welch (Katie), Kayla Welch, Curtis Kimbrough, Kaitlyn Malone, Anthony Malone III, Allison Owens, Ashlyn Owens, Ebony Stephens (Clarence), Kendell Owens, Alexis Owens, Jonathan Keys (Hannah), Jason Keys (Elizabeth), Cierra Moore (Tres) and Donna Pierce. Ester is also survived by a host of beautiful great-grandchildren: Ivy Welch, Trayce Welch, Journee Owens, Atlas Owens, Jesse Murff, Jesslyn Murff, Amora Keys, Cameron Keys, Cohen Keys, Kinsen Keys, Acacia Keys, Kira Peck, McKiyla Kimbrough, Curtis Kimbrough III, Kayden Kimbrough, Ky’rie Kimbrough, Clarence Stephens Jr, Kaydence Stephens, and Kendall Jr. Although God saw fit to call one of his most beautiful soldiers to Heaven, her spirit and legacy will always live on in all of us.
