Obituary of Charles Lee Porter Sr.
Charles L. Porter Sr., 81, of Indianapolis passed away on April 28, 2022. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Charles Homer Porter Jr and Jo Ellen Porter on October 21, 1940. He served in the Navy from March 1957 until July 23, 1973. He worked for Viewtronics in Norfolk, VA from 1973 until 1978. He was also employed by the Naval Air Warfare Center, and then Raytheon until he retired. He was an avid book reader, he also enjoyed science fiction movies. Towards the end of his life, he enjoyed weekly chocolate shakes and his great grandchildren visits from Lilly and Jax. Memories are a peaceful reminder of people and things we cherish. Bringing us smiles, laughter and sometimes tears. Dad was always loved, never forgotten and he will be forever missed. Charles L. Porter Sr. was preceded in death by his wife Christine Porter; dad, Charles Homer Porter Jr.; mother, Jo Ellen Porter; and sister; Janice Winstead. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret (Lou) Urbancic and Penny (Brett) Kays; son, Charles (Dawn) Porter Jr.; grandchildren, Louis (Amanda) Urbancic Jr., Zachary (Danielle) Urbancic, Stephen (Kelly) Kays, Thomas (Danielle) Kays, Jessica, Rachel (Aiden), Charlie and Brandon Lee; great grandchildren, Lilly Urbancic, Jax Urbancic and Wesley Kays; brother, Dale Gene (Judy) Porter; sister, Suzanne Kae (Gary) Baumgartel; and brother-in-law, Jim Winstead. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:30 PM Friday, June 10, 2022 at Church on the Rock 6987 Donnelly Drive Brownsburg, IN 46112 with a visitation from 6:00 PM until 6:30 PM. In honor of Charles L. Porter Sr. memorial contributions can be made to Church on the Rock 6987 Donnelly Drive Brownburg, IN 46112 or Southpoint Christian Church 5699 Fort Street Trenton, Michigan 48183.
