Obituary of Karen Zigler

Karen Marie (Minkner) Zigler, 76, of Brownsburg went home to the Lord in the early hours of November 26, 2021. Karen was born in Indianapolis on May 6, 1945 to parents Helen C. (Uehlein) and Harry A. Minkner. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Karen grew up surrounded by her seven brothers and sisters. Karen was an animal lover, whether it be horses or her beloved dogs, and was a huge fan of Elvis and Smokey Robinson. After graduation, Karen worked at L.S. Ayres, until she married and became a homemaker and loving mother. Her pride and joy in life were her two sons. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and particularly enjoyed rides in the car, especially in the Jeep, to “get out and see things.” In recent years, Karen suffered from multiple medical issues. Although her family will miss her dearly, we are also grateful that her pain and suffering has now been relieved and that she is restored. In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her son, Michael Zigler. Karen is survived by her son, Jeffrey, along with sisters Barbara (Phil) Sinclair and Marilyn Walton, and brothers David (Bellinda) Minkner, Stephen (Denise) Minkner, Philip (Angie) Minkner, Mark Minkner and Chris (Sandra) Minkner; her aunt Clarita Donaldson, and many nieces and nephews. A private service for family will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224. A private burial will be held at a later time at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a trust fund supporting Karen’s son, Jeff. Donations can be made to Steven’s Mortuary.
