Obituary of Martina Otilia Dawnorowicz
It is with deep sorrow and grateful relief that we announce the passing of Martina Otilia (Mauser) Dawnorowicz at the age of 98 on Monday, August 30, 2021. Tina was born on May 9, 1923 in Indianapolis, IN to the family of Martin and Josephine (Mervar) Mauser. She was the youngest of three daughters, truly a beautiful child, daddy’s little girl and always the life of the party. Tina was married to Anthony Dawnorowicz on March 2, 1946. He proceeded her in death on September 3, 1999. After Tony’s death Tina spent many loving years with her friend and confidant Clyde “Skeet” Pruitt, who also preceded her in death.
Tina was never blessed with her own children, but was a loving surrogate mother and friend to countless children. She was an extremely compassionate woman who helped raise her many nieces and nephews as well as her great-nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her. Blessed with an incredible memory, Tina could recall the anniversaries, birthdays and important events in the lives of everyone she had come to love. She was an incredible cook and loved to play polka music on the accordion and the organ, bringing smiles to many others living at Majestic Care of Carmel.
Tina was an active and faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haughville. Her faith was very important to her and she participated in all Holy Trinity festivals, especially making potica and the sausage fest.
Surviving are her loving family and friends, by whom she is mourned and idolized. Tina’s extended family include but are not limited to: Dr. Donald Bozic (Marcia), Marie Swoverland (Dr. Don), Dr. John Bozic (Lisa), Joseph Toth (Pat), Charleyne Swoverland (Larry), John Mauser (Jackie), Joe Mauser (Mary Elizabeth), Louis Mauser (Debbie), Claudia Sabo (John), Kathy Mauser Kiels, Tom Mauser (Kate) and many great nieces and nephews. Tina’s last wish was for everyone to get along and love one another.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at St. Christopher Catholic Church 5301 W. 16th Street Indianapolis, IN 46224 with a Mass of Christian burial immediately following at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church and a celebration of life at the Slovenian National Home 2717 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46222 on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Slovenian National Home Renovation Fund 2717 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46222 in Tina’s name.
