Obituary of Ada Olga Lucas

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, Ada Floreancig Lucas passed away peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Ada was born on July 16, 1923 to Antonio and Mary (Rinani) Floreancig. She was the 2nd of 8 children. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School and graduated from George Washington High School at age 16. During WWII she worked as a riveter on airplanes. Ada also was employed at the Indianapolis Water Co. as well as in the accounting department of L.S. Ayers & Co. downtown. Ada also spent many enjoyable hours working at her son Tom’s dental office periodically starting in the late 1970’s. Ada married Felix (Luke) Lucas on February 12, 1949 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Ada was preceded in death by her husband Felix, her daughter Diane, brothers Adrian (Tony), Bruno, Geno, Mario, sister Carmen and son-in-law Joseph Conerty. She is survived by her son Thomas (Tom) Lucas, DDS, and daughters Barbara Repass, and Kathleen Lucas Conerty, grandsons Peter Conerty, Byron (Shannon) Conerty and Robert Conerty, and great-grandson Evan Conerty. She is also survived by her brothers Ted and Bobby (Natalie) Floreancig, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Ada greatly enjoyed spending time with her family taking longs drives to anywhere, as well as playing Tripoley with her daughters and Rinani cousins - loving referred to as “Rinani Fest”. Ada was also a mean Bingo player winning more than her share of games at Westside Garden Plaza where she resided for 1 ½ years just prior to her passing. She loved bird watching and sitting on the front porch glider just enjoying the world around her. Ada loved to travel and was able to visit family in Italy several years ago. We wish to thank the staff of Westside Garden Plaza, Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, and Avon Health and Rehab for the outstanding care they provided. We would also like to thank Life’s Journey Hospice House in Avon for their extraordinarily compassionate care of mom over the past 6 days that mom was at home. We would especially like to acknowledge Terri, Brooke and Nikki. Viewing will be at Stevens Mortuary on Friday, July 23rd from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway on Saturday, July 24th at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service. In Ada’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church or to your favorite charity.
