Obituary of Roberta Elaine Stewart

Roberta (Bobbi) Stewart, age 78, of Indianapolis, peacefully passed away June 1, 2021. She was born February 24, 1943 to Robert and Dorothy Stamm. She was raised in Speedway, IN where she remained most of her life. Bobbi married Jerry Stewart on July 28, 1961. They would go on to have three children. Bobbi worked at Indus Wheel, Winona Anesthesiology, and Helzberg Diamonds, but the job she found most fulfilling was helping watch over her grandchildren. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being at the lake house “hot dog stand” on Lake Freeman. Bobbi loved boat rides and drinking wine while chatting with friends. She also had fun visiting her friends at Barbecue and Bourbon. Bobbi is known for her feisty spark, her sassy smile and for being full of life. She loved her animals, especially her dog-son Murph. “Where is the dog?” Is a common phrase leaving her children wondering who comes first. Bobbi also loved dragonflies and sun flowers. The dragonfly teaches us to love life, to rejoice and have faith even amidst difficulties. It’s a symbol of change and transformation. Bobbi loved life more than most. She found happiness during the tough times. She changed when needed. And her self-realization is that she was always right. :) She is survived and greatly missed by her husband of nearly 60 years, Jerry Stewart. Daughters Kim (Jeff) Purdy, Shellie (Gus) Sturm and son, Brian (Tawny) Stewart. Her grandchildren, Jill (Carly) Purdy, Jay (Andrea) Purdy, and Ahryanna Heard. Along with her little lights of life, her great granddaughters Elliott and Hayden Purdy. The family would like to give special thanks to neighbor and adopted family member Michelle Combs for every prayer, visit and kind word over the years and especially recent days. As a family we agree that if she could leave us all with one last thought, it would be this, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society of Clinton County of Indiana would be appreciated so more people can ask, “Where is the dog?”Link => http://clintoncohumanesociety.org Thanks for all the calls, texts, prayers and love during this difficult time.
