Carol and I had been the best of friends from February, 1970 until the time of her death. We actually met in the dentist's chair and hit it off right way! Whether going shopping for the Schoolhouse Shop, or just engaging in long and meaningful talks, she was always a pleasure to be with. We enjoyed visiting back and forth so much.
Condolences to Ray, Steve, Chuck, and Jodi and all their families in this very sad time.
Sleep well, Carol. Love to you. I will miss you always.
I am so sorry to hear of Carol's passing. When I started working at Grassy Creek Carol took me under her wing and taught me so much. I will always remember that.
My family was neighbors next to the Hurst's..... I would babysit those kids. Carol and my mom were lifetime friends. My heart hurts for you family. Prayers for you. Love you Carol.
Ray--I was deeply saddened by Carol’s death. She was so happy being married to you. I was glad you both found each other. Carol was a wonderful hostess; my husband Earl and I spent many wonderful Thanksgivings at her house. Her great sense of humor carried her through some difficult times.
I am also sad for all of your family as they will miss her immensely. Please know that you and all your family, especially Steve, Chuck and Jodi, will be in my prayers in the coming months.

I am so sad to learn of Carol’s passing. I knew Carol my whole life. My earliest memory related to her is of the plaid carpeting in the basement of the family’s house in Chesterton! What a fun basement; there was a pinball machine! I remember the family dog, a schnauzer named Cricket (I pronounced it as Truckit). As I got older I appreciated that Carol always had something witty to say, or some bit of sage advice. But, most of all, I appreciate the wonderful friend she was to my mother. Sending a hug to Carol and all her loved ones.

I remember being a teenager and going through that awkward phase of dental work. It was always a treat to get to go visit Grandma Carol after my dental work at the dental school. She would find a way to help me feel less uncomfortable about this awkward phase in life.
Her smile holding her great granddaughters for the first time will forever be engraved in my memory. She was so proud and happy to hold both Hadlie and Kyla when they were newborns.
Grandma Carol rest easy. We will miss you!
Ray--I am deeply saddened by Carol's death. We were friends for 50+ years and shared many happy times and sad moments. Carol was like a sister to me since I had no family in Chesterton. Carol relocated to Indianapolis in 1987 a few months before we did. That friendship continued and we didn't miss a beat! She leaves a hole in my heart, and my condolences to you, Jody, Steve, Chuck and their families and her blended family. Knowing Carol was one of my life's blessings.
Blessings to all. Kathy Wall, Indianapolis IN.
