Obituary of Joyce Pfennig

Joyce (Williams) Pfennig, 83, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020. Joyce was born in Cythiana, KY on November 24, 1936 to Sanford and Ida (Flynn) Williams. Joyce attended and graduated from Reading High School in Reading, OH. As the past Financial Aid Director for Marian College and Ivy Tech Community College, her career path helped many individuals with their financial needs while attaining their career and life goals. All three sons attended St. Michael’s and Cardinal Ritter High School. Joyce loved her family. She enjoyed all her friendships along the way. In the 60’s and 70’s she was involved in social justice issues. Later in life she always kept up with current events, reading the newspaper cover to cover… while drinking her coffee! She will forever be missed, but her joyful spirit will live on in our memories! She created her favorite prayer: “Thank you dear God for all your blessings, please continue to guide and direct us in your will. Amen.” Rest in peace Mom! Thank you for blessing us! Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; brother Howard Williams; and sisters Irene Williams-Sowders and JoAnn Randolph. She is survived by her loving and devoted family; sons Jim (Theresa) Pfennig, Joe (Dianne) Pfennig and Jeff Pfennig; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Sarah, Josh (Sarah), Elizabeth (Matt) and Brandi (Nick); and nine great-grandchildren, Angelica, James, Madeline, Benjamin, Aidan, Emerson, Myles, Josephine and Jaxon. A private family only graveside service and interment for Joyce will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that memorial contributions be made instead to Seeds of Hope 1425 S Mickley Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46241 in honor and in memory of Joyce
