Obituary of Maryetta Evans

MaryEtta Elizabeth Evans Was born in 1918 in Roachdale, Indiana to Clarence and Goldie Lue (Huffman) Kiser. She is preceded in death by brothers Edward, Maurice, Fred Kiser of Indianapolis; Don Kiser, Hepler, Kansas and half brothers William and Dale Kiser and her husband Lee Evans and son James Clifton Evans, Gridley, California. She was proud to have been able to work until she was 72, having been employed by Western Electric, Real Silk, H&H Bookbinding, Lindy Air, and RCA. She had her own Upholstery Business for 10 years. MaryEtta had worked in a Las Vegas Casino. She also worked at Chapelwood school retiring in 1990. She lived most her of her life in Indiana but also lived in Illinois, California, Nevada and New York before retiring to Florida for 5 years. She returned to Indianapolis and in October 2005 moved into Avon Health and Rehab, Avon, Indiana where she passed away peacefully March 31, 2011. MaryEtta loved traveling, gardening and oil painting. She also loved animals and "dumpster diving." She always found a treasure in what others threw away. She is survived by two daughters and two sons; Mary Lue (David) Gurley, Indianapolis, IN and Donna Faupel, Pacific City, OR and Michael Evans, Independence, OR and KC (Jan) Evans, Cotopaxi, CO; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters LaVena Court, Marathon, NY and Jaunice Baril, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held Monday, April 4 from 3-5pm at Stevens Mortuary and Family Center, 5520 W. 10th St. Indpls. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society. www.stevensmortuary
