Obituary of Culmer King
Culmer "Doney" King 88, of Indianapolis, passed away August 5, 2011. He was born in Clinton, Indiana. He graduated Washington High School in 1942. Doney was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1983 after 35 years from Spector Freight. Doney was an All City athlete in three sports. He played semi-pro baseball and softball for 20 years and was a member of the Softball Fast Pitch Hall of Fame. He also coached many years for both CYO and KSKJ. Doney was a recipient of the St. John Bosco Award. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth. Survivors include daughters, Cindy (Glenn) Young and Beth King; sons, Don (Terrie) and Chris King; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. in Stevens Mortuary and Family Center, 5520 W. 10th St., Indpls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 11 at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at St. Vincent Hospice.
