Obituary of Donald R. Kiggans
Donald Russell Kiggans, 88 of Indianapolis, Indiana went to Paradise to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. He was born on March 9,1931 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to James and Ada Kiggans.
Don graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1949. He graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis in 1954. The United States Army called him to service as a medic and soldier during the Korean and Cold Wars. He was stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky and Fort Hood in Texas. In 1958 he graduated from Dwyer Business College with a degree in Business.
Thirty-two years of his working life he was employed by Allison Transmission before retiring in 1991. Don was an active member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. He held many volunteer positions in various churches throughout his life including serving as a deacon, visiting homes as a member of the evangelistic team, led youth group, and served on the finance team. Spending time with family, being an avid gardener, watching and attending sporting events as well as coaching various sports were some of the things he enjoyed. He won several championships in his coaching years. He was also a history buff.
Family left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life include: wife, Margie; one daughter, Debbie Watson of Brownsburg, Indiana; one son, Scott (Janet) Kiggans of Mooresville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Watson of Carmel, Indiana, Eric (Zey) Watson of San Francisco, California, Hannah Kiggans of Mooresville, Indiana, Benjamin Kiggans of Mooresville, Indiana, and Alaina (Chris) Horn of Brownsburg, Indiana; five great grandchildren, Mia Watson, Bailey Watson, Landon Watson of Carmel, Indiana, Levi Watson, and Lillian Watson of San Francisco, California.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Kiggans, sisters, Jeanette, Pauline and Mary, and son-in-law, Steve Watson.
Celebration of life will be held in the chapel at noon Saturday, February 8, Chapel Rock Christian Church, Indianapolis. Family and friends may call from 10:00 to noon prior to the service with Pastor Fred Rodkey officiating. Don will be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
