Obituary of James R Long
James R. Long, 83, of Indianapolis passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He was born in Celina, TN to Iva Lee Watson and Carly C. Long on August 23, 1936. James worked at Chevrolet Truck and Bus as a Skilled Tradesman, during his many years at the plant he handled multiple jobs. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Lynhurst Masonic Lodge #723 for over 30 years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family. James always had a love for animals. James was preceded in death by his parents; his loving spouse of 60 years, Shirley Temple Long; brother, Eddie Long; brother-in-law’s, Ed Cook and Dave Hanson; and sister-in-law, Shirley Long. He is survived by his son James (Dennis M. Henry) Allen; daughter, Linda M. Long; brother, Clayton Long; and sisters, Alma Cook and Linda Hanson.
A reception will immediately follow the Interment at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 4601 N. Emerson Ave Indianapolis, IN 46201.
