Obituary of Anthony Mauser
Anthony L. Mauser 85, of Bainbridge passed away February 15, 2011. Mr. Mauser was born March 13, 1925 in Morgantown, Ind. to Louis Mauser and Anna (Bruder) Mauser. As a child in the country, he worked in the fields and hunted for food. Later, his family moved to Haughville, on the Indianapolis west side. Tony had fond memories of growing up there. Shortly before his retirement, he moved to Bainbridge, Indiana. He was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, Indianapolis. Tony was employed by Allison Transmission and retired in 1988. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for many years and was a charter member of the Slovenian National Home. Tony was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Maria Mauser and a sister, Hedwig Weber, Linton. He is survived by his wife, Ooana Mauser. They have been married for 64 years. Also surviving is his son, Eric (Rebecca) Mauser; and two grandchildren, Nicole Mauser Brown (Matt) and Eric Joseph. Tony "Big Moose" Mauser, was a gentle and spiritual man who dearly loved and cared for his family. His hands told the story of his life; huge, strong, scarred, yet gentle. He was a genius for "making do". Children loved and adored him and he was like a giant "Pied Piper"; patient and gentle. He was a decorated WWII veteran, serving as a medic in Company B, 310th Medical Battalion, 85th Infantry. His tour of duty included Italy, Egypt and Morocco. He kept in touch with his army buddies. They were always in his heart and mind. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2618 W. St. Clair St., Indianapolis with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
