Obituary of Oatey Adkins
Oatey Mae Adkins passed away February 22, 2019 in Greenwood, Indiana. She was born March 14, 1934 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Oatey and Hattie Mae Tinsley. Oatey was a retired clerk from Balkamp. She was also an Ordained Minister at Peoples Full Gospel Church and enjoyed performing weddings and preaching. The Commonwealth of Kentucky commissioned Oatey as a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of the Golden Girl Adventures. Oatey was an animal lover and loved to decorate the house for the seasons and holidays. Mrs. Adkins is survived by her husband, David Lee Adkins, daughters; Kristina Light of Brownsburg, IN, Karla Stambro of Indianapolis, IN and Karen Mitchell of Avon, IN, step-daughters; Alma Ingersoll of Indianapolis, IN, Juanita Adkins of Phoenix, AZ, and Lorrie Shepperd of Clermont, IN, sisters; Faye Morgan of Indianapolis, IN and Wanda Richmann of Greenwood, IN, 20 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was loved deeply and will be missed daily. Graveside inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Brownsburg Cemetery. Please use entrance on 56th street.
