Obituary of Lula C. Stokes

Lula Carroll Stokes, 86

 

Lula Carroll Minton Stokes 86, passed away February 16, 2019 in Indianapolis. Carroll was born November 10, 1932 in Indianapolis to Waverly and Gladis Minton. She went to George Washington High School. She married Bill Stokes Dec. 31th, 1949 and remained married for 64 years. Her treasures were spending time with her family and singing praises to Jesus.

Visitation will be held at Stevens Mortuary in Indianapolis 5520 W 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46224 on Monday February 18 4:00-8:00 pm.

Her homecoming celebration will be held at Stevens Mortuary on Tuesday February 19 at 11:00 am with Pastor Danny McAdams and Pastor Tom Dewlen presiding. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.

Carroll is preceded in death by her parents,husband,two brothers Norman and Alvin, 2 grandchildren, Larry II and Nick, and 1 great grandchild, Savannah.

 

Carroll is survived by her 4 children Karen (husband Bill Sommers), Bill (wife Patty), Larry (wife Glenda), and Ron (wife Shannyn), her 14 grandchildren Christy, Brian, John, Wendy, Mindi, Bridget, Angie, Tammy, Beau, Ben, Brittany, Jonte, Asia, Elijah, and her 18 great grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Carroll may be made to the Savannah LeAnne Bettis Memorial Fund at Forum Credit Union PO BOX 50738 Indianapolis, IN 46250-0738. The memorial fund awards college scholarships and further prevents carbon monoxide poisoning.
