Obituary of Margaret Carson

Margaret Joan Carson 89, died June 26, 2011 on the feast day of Corpus Christi. She attended St. Philip Neri Grade School, St. Agnes Academy High School and St. Mary of the Woods College. In 1947, she completed the Army Nurses Corp. program at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and was awarded her Registered Nursing License. Among the many, Margaret's most extraordinary gifts were her compassion and care of others. She served as a nurse for more than 40 years, especially enjoying her care of children. Additionally, she served as a "favorite aunt" to her more than 100 nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Carson; brothers, John, Thomas, James (Isabelle) and William Carson; sisters, Rosemary (Tony) Igel and Patricia Striby. She is survived by her sister and caregiver for years, Mary and brother, Alfred (Dorothy) Carson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Thursday, June 30 in St. Joseph Church, 1400 S. Mickley Ave., Indianapolis, 46241, with prior visitation from 10 a.m. until Noon. The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to Dr. Stephen Swinney and the sisters and staff of St. Augustine's Home, for their extraordinary care of Margaret, as well as to Msgr.
