Condolences
I am so sorry for the passing of Bertha. I was fond of spending time with her along with Wally, Lois and her Walt drinking a few cold ponies around her kitchen table and playing cards. She was such a fun person that definitely left a positive impression on me. May she rest in peace with Walt and Wally. Peace. Jim (Rookie) Loretta
I just heard of Bertha’s death today, from her daughter Lois, and it was a blessing that she lived to be 103.9 years. I remember her well and she was one of the sweetest and most beautiful women I have ever known! I’m happy that she is with Jesus now, along with her husband and son Wally! She had a great life and fought a great fight towards the end of her life, and now she has her eternal reward in Heaven! R.I.P.
we are so happy about your mother's beautiful and successful life. you are all in our prayers. What fun and great experiences you all had!l
Our mom, Dorothy Fon Hill, spoke often of her friendship with Bertha and how, as young women, they would dress alike. Mary and I are sorry to learn of Bertha's passing and will keep her in our prayers. The obituary story about Bertha's bowling was fascinating. Love and prayers, Mary Hill and Pat Long.
Lois and Wally, I remember your mother fondly, your green house and the old neighborhood. How lucky to have your mother with you for so long. She was loved and is fortunate to have you as her children. She will be missed.
As if yesterday, I see Mrs Gorka-- so friendly and businesslike--juggling the managerial balls at Western Hardware, a neighborhood anchor for decades.
What a wonderful tribute to your beautiful Mother. So sorry for your loss.
Lois and Wally, please accept my sincerest sympathy and prayers on the death of your Mom, Bertha. She was a wonderful, spirited lady! I enjoyed my years working for her and learned so much from her! She was such a hard worker but it was evident that she loved what she was doing! I feel fortunate to have been a part of her life and yours!
Love and Prayers,
Sue Ann
Bertha was a wonderful woman and such a strong spirit that inspired others like us on how to live well and age well. She was so kind and positive. I am grateful that I had a chance to visit with her in Indianapolis a couple of years ago. My mother always spoke so highly of her and admired her so much.
Bert Was a wonderful, strong lady and was always so very welcoming when I came to visit during my college years and after. She will be greatly missed. Xxxo
We can't imagine having a better neighbor than Bert for all those years. She was a true joy and inspiration! She always told me that the secret to longevity was to "keep active" and she did so as long as she could. What a wonderful lady. This world is going to miss her great spirit, but I know she is in Heaven and is bowling again and holding all of her "Brandy" dogs! Love you, Bert!
So sorry to hear about lovely Bert! She was the most upbeat, positive person I’ve ever met. She always had a nice to say about everybody. May she Rest In Peace. Blessings.
The video was such a perfect tribute to Bert. We especially enjoyed seeing the Chik Wauk Lodge/fishing pictures. We so appreciated Bert and Walt introducing us to that special place. She was a lovely accomplished lady with such a beautiful smile. Her presence made the world a better place.
