Obituary of Dean Joyal
Dean Joyal, 85, of Speedway, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was born September 4, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana which led to his lifelong love of Notre Dame football. He spent his childhood in Huntington, Indiana. Dean retired in 1997 from The Indianapolis Star after spending his entire career in the newspaper business. Post retirement he worked 15 years at Auto Value in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 1587, and the American Legion Post 64.
He is survived by his wife Martha Jane Joyal, daughters, Marrianna Brunner (Jeff) and Elizabeth Hamilton, grandchildren, Kevin, Scott, Abby, Marta, and Luke, 2 great grandchildren and his sisters, Sharon Marshall (Bob), Betty Nally (Ken), Kathy Spangenberg, and Irene Thrasher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edith (Bates) Joyal and sister, Shirley Tegge.
