Obituary of William S Archer

William S. Archer, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. Bill was born on October 31st, 1926 in Caldwell, OH to Joseph and Minnie Archer. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1944 and directly after served his country in the Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. Bill attended Ohio University as a music major. He met the love of his life, Eileen Sharratt, while living in Ohio. The two were married on January 20, 1951 and moved their family to Indiana in 1956 where they resided ever since. 

Bill devoted his life to faith, family and hard work. He spent over 35 years in various positions with RCA beginning in Cambridge, OH and eventually in Bloomington and Indianapolis, IN. He was a devoted and long time member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and spent several years in the Knights of Columbus’s Colombians Choir. He found his greatest life’s joy in being a husband, father, grandfather (papaw) and great grandfather.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen Archer and his beloved son, Jay W. Archer. Bill is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Patricia) and Patrick (Rene) Archer; daughter-in-law, Alison Archer; grandchildren, Adam Archer, Lindsey (Jonathan) Shaw, Scott Archer, Kevin Archer (fiancé, Caroline Clayton) and Benjamin Archer; great grandchild, Aidan Archer and many loving nieces and nephews and their children.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, November 9th at St. Christopher Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday November 9th at St. Christopher Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Cancer Support Community in memory of William S. Archer.
