Kathryn Marie Casey, 56, of Indianapolis passed away on January 30, 2017. Kathy was born on July 14, 1960 in Valdosta, GA to James R. Verhagen and Marie I. Miller. Kathy was a Registered Nurse since 1999. She worked at Springmill Surgery Center since January, 2016. Prior to that she was at Riley Childrens Hospital and IU West Hospital. Kathy loved family, friends and music. Alongside her husband John she co-hosted Indywest House Concerts. Kathy had a way with animals and wherever she went, animals were drawn to her. She leaves behind her beloved Sheltie Harry, and Peaches, her cockatiel. Kathy had many hobbies, which included; scrapbooking, knitting, visiting wineries and live music. She tried playing many different musical instruments such as; piano, guitar and banjo before focusing on different types of percussion instruments. Another hobby was baking; every year in December she would take a week off work and bake over a dozen different types of Christmas Cookies which everyone looked forward to every year. She will be sorely missed by many. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 29 years John P. Casey; sons, Michael D. Choate and Kyle P. Casey; brother, James R. Verhagen Jr.; niece, Kamri Verhagen; aunts, Patricia Turner, Nancy Whitmer, Debbie Verhagen and Jeanette Davis; uncle, Tim Youmans.
