Condolences
My condolences to the family of a dear old friend. Eddy we called him. My name is Yolanda Ward , I lived right across the street the park from his moms house. We played hide and go seek, he played basketball on court with my brothers and the Johnson brothers. He was the cool guy you would ever meet. We never knew what happened to them moving out of haughville , but never forgotten. Sorry for your loss praying for the family. Would love to meet you one day soon . I know all the girls and his brothers. I can be reached at 317-615-0555
I work for TDS Telecom, Ed was our drop contractor. Over the past several years he had become a good friend and fellow IndyCar fan. Besides talking racing he always talked about his family and how much they met to him. I'm going to miss working with him and more importantly our talks. My condolences to his entire family and friends.
Our family met Eddie and the entire Cmehil family early on at St. Michael. Our son and Maggie the rest of Grandma Chehil’s crew plus Joe were in the same grade from K-8.
Eddie cheered our son on in EVERY sport from wresting to football to basketball.
We last saw Eddie at Tim’s showing and , as per usual, he was SO SO happy to see Kelly and Kelly was happy to see him despite the circumstances.
We will never forget the kindness Eddie and the entire Cmehil family has shown and continues to show our son.
Prayers from our heart and home to yours. He was definitely one of the good ones.
Eddie was always fun to play poker with. He was outgoing, had a great personality, and was truly a family man. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Praying for comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time and in the days ahead. Godspeed, my friend.
I had not seen Eddie in a few years until one Fall weekend morning St Michael’s showed up to take on the mighty Shamrocks at St Malachy Field in Brownsburg. I was the athletic director and self-appointed announcer at the time. After announcing young Eddie’s name, I realized that he had to be Eddie’s son or nephew and after studying the far sidelines, there he was in living color giving direction to every kid on the field. I think he may have even been spreading his knowledge with the Shamrocks. After young Eddie made a couple of nice plays I followed my normal comments with a bit of color noting, “that Cmehil kid appears to be a pretty good athlete and that is understandable because I know his mother was a great athlete”.
Until then neither coach nor too many fans were really listening to me, but immediately Eddie looked across the field, and I could see this “what the h___” expression on his face. Then he realized who it was and gave me a wave and that Eddie grin.
Eddie you are gone way too soon. But I was thinking about this in the days since I heard; I bet God tires of seeing just old guys like me. He will enjoy a young enthusiastic man with some great lines to tell. By the way the reason I had not returned your inquiry from a couple weeks ago is because I had not yet seen the cars practice, but if you run into Tim up there and he wants to wager, take the same driver we discussed last year, it’s a good bet.
Enjoy hugging your dad and holding your baby. See ya later.
Dearest Amy and all the extended Bybee and Cmehil families,
We are so sorry for this huge loss. May all your memories of Eddie bring you laughter, joy, and comfort knowing he was such a loving husband and father, friend and coach. Praying for your grief. Trust in our Lord and our Savior through these difficult times.

Eddie was a true Cardinal Ritter legend. What a great family filled with love and laughter. His memory will live on with the stories that will bring us smiles in the days and years to come. He and Timmy are getting the party started in heaven and watching over us all. I am so sorry for this profound loss and I will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers .

Im so very sorry to hear of this, he is my cousin, my memories are when he was little, he was soo stinkin cute, R.I.P cousin you are with the Lord now
My heart is so heavy to learn of Ed's transition. I instantly remember all the moments and conversations on the front porch with a beer in hand. Ed and his family were my extended family and were a life line for me and my son. I will be FOREVER grateful for his love, generosity, support and wisdom that he poured into my son, Chris. Ed will always hold a special place in my heart.
Our prayers go out to the Chemil family for the tragic loss of such a great father and the idea parent who was all about his kids. I coached two of them, Eddie and Courtney at CRHS. It was very evident they loved and highly respected their father.
My favorite memory was my wife and I went to Georgetown and 16th to listen to the 500 outside the track where we could hear the cars on a beautiful May Day the year of Covid and of course who was there, Eddie with some of his family and friends partying having a great time and we joined them. It was a 500 to remember.
Like so many others, i met Eddie via CYO football. Coaching against Eddie was always a challenge---his St Mike's teams were well prepared, disciplined, and physical. I got to know Eddie better as Anthony, Max, and Matt entered high school. I will remember Eddie with a smile on his face and with a warm and welcoming heart. On behalf of the Felts family and the entire Christ the King Football community, God Bless Eddie and the Cmehil family.
Eddie was always so kind to us, he was the first neighbor we met and he would always give me grief for being a Bears fan and my husband for being a 49ers fan. He kept his yard looking marvelous. He will be missed. He was also a true family man.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family with this unimaginable loss. Eddie was one of kind and his love for his family was evidenced in every conversation you had with him! Praying that God will wrap His arms around you all and give you comfort and peace during this difficult time! We love you, Deb, Alex, Abby and Jax
Big Eddie, we await the day we will all meet again. Thank you for everything you did for your family, and the families of St Mikes and CRHS. The Diagostino family is praying with your family.
Love you guys stay strong for big ed never once did I ever feel like a stranger around him he was loving funny and never gave up on me I’ll always hold him in my heart love you cmehil’s
My prayers go out to your family. Eddie coached my boys in CYO football; I know how much they enjoyed having Eddie as their coach. He was always supportive and encouraging. He has left behind a great legacy.
Big Eddie was definitely one of a kind; he went over the top to make everyone feel welcome. RIP my friend and may God Bless your family!
Praying for all of the Cmehil Family, Coach Eddie was easily one of the main reasons I fell in love with the game of football and a huge reason I would never let my size get in the way of my goals in life. Thank you for sharing your love for football and family with all of us and a special thank you from The Knutson family for all you and your family has done for us over the years. One of the best fathers, coach, and man I have ever gotten the chance to meet and grow up around. May God welcome you home with open arms and with a whistle and football!
My prayers go out to Eddie and the entire Cmehil family during this very difficult time. May peace be with you all.
Eddie was one of kind, I loved being around him. He was always welcoming with a big hug and lots of kind words. He could always make you laugh! He always enjoyed playing with the kids. We were so lucky to know him!! Lots of hugs and prayers to the family, he will be missed beyond words.
To that awesome Cmehil family, we are so very sorry for your loss.
Eddie made life better for so many of us who we’re lucky to know him. My heart breaks for you and for all of us who will miss him and his infectious love of life.
Rest In Peace, Eddie! And may the love of God comfort us who remain until we meet again. Amen.
We have Big Ed in cherished camping memories. He made the best jambalaya and raved about a gravy I made. The fun he always had with his kids, playing ball and so proud watching them grow. We will miss this man who had God, Family & a whole bunch of friends in his life. Fly high dear friend
I understand your loss very well. It is difficult to lose a family member at a young age. I remember the poem, To An Athlete Dieing Young.
Family members and friends will be hurting, but remember Eddy will always be there for each of you.
