Mary L. Bennett passed away on February 12, 2026.  She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Tretha Lusk and the love of her life and husband of 58 years, William (Bill) Bennett.  She is survived by her brother, Louie (Doris) Lusk, her daughter, Joanna Henry, her son, Charles (Kimberly) Bennett.  She was Memaw to three grandsons, Cale, Creighton, and Camden.  She worked proudly for thirty years as a nurse at the Indiana School for the Deaf and later at the Indiana School for the Blind.  She loved gardening (famous for Mary's Tomatoes), taking trips to New Orleans and Panama City Beach, Butterflies (especially Monarchs), Sandy Beach on the Ohio River, doing water yoga with her friends at the Healthplex, making picture posters at CVS, dinner in the evenings with Bill on the backyard deck, and any time spent with her grandsons.  A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 28, with a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46224. In lieu of flowers please send a memorial contribution to the Indianapolis Zoo, 1200 W. Washington St.  Indianapolis, IN 46222 in support of the Hilbert Conservatory.
