Obituary of Derick Timothy Gentry

Derick Timothy Gentry, born on February 2, 1987, in Indianapolis, IN, lived a life of purpose, laughter, and dedication. A proud resident of Avon, Indiana, Derick was a man of many talents and interests, with a heart as vast as the digital networks he spent his career nurturing. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the essence of Derick's spirit and the life he led.

In his career in Information Technology, Derick was known for his keen intellect, his innovative ideas, and his unyielding commitment to his work. He had a unique ability to translate the complexities of technology into a language that everyone could understand, making the world a more connected place. However, the true measure of Derick's success was not in his professional accomplishments, but rather in the deep and lasting relationships he fostered. His infectious laugh, his endless curiosity, and his firm belief in the potential of others made him a cherished friend, a trusted colleague, and a beloved family man.

Derick is survived by his loving wife, Allison Weselo, and their three beautiful children, Knox, Nash, and Blair Gentry, and their son on the way. His spirit will continue to live on through them, as well as through his parents, Maria Meyer, and Timothy Gentry, his step-father, Dwayne Meyer, his sister, Marissa McCluskey and her husband Doug, his in-laws Richard and Shelley Weselo, and his grandfather, Byron Gentry. Each of these individuals held a special place in Derick’s heart, and he in theirs.

To paraphrase the words of Helen Keller, "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us." Derick was a beacon of joy, love, and resilience, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Derick on his memorial page, celebrating the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. May these shared recollections bring comfort and serve as a reminder of the wonderful ways Derick touched our lives.
