Obituary of Robert Lee "Bob" Brooking
With immense love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Robert "Bob" Lee Brooking, who was born on February 17, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and passed away on January 10, 2026. Bob's warm heart, infectious humor and dedication to his loved ones was only outmatched by his generosity to those he cared about. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And indeed, the love and laughter that Bob spread to those around him will linger on, an everlasting tribute to his beautiful spirit.
Bob was a hardworking and dedicated tradesman in the construction business until his retirement. He had a loving relationship with his work, finding joy and satisfaction in creating and building. Yet his life was not only about work. Bob loved spending time outdoors in his garden, playing with his dog Bruno, or grilling out for family. He was an avid Indiana sports fan, cheering on the Colts and Pacers each season. He also enjoyed watching Nascar, playing pool, and having frequent poker games with family. There was always a good reason for a BBQ or family get together.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna Brooking, his children Amanda Pottle, Andrea Brooking, Heather (Dwight II) Carter, Trenity Brooking, Michael (Kayla) Brooking, Abigail Wyatt, Stacy Palmer, Jennifer Edgell, brother Terry (Cathy) Brooking and his sisters Rosemary (Jerry) Weddle and Peggy Walls. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Rachel Brooking, his daughter Amber "EB" Brooking, grandson Dwight "Baby D" Carter III, and brothers Wayne "Sonny" Jr. and Lonnie Brooking.
In the words of Bob Marley, "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively." Bob's legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to his family and friends will forever be etched into the heart of every life he touched.
