Obituary of Susie Elizabeth Galloway
Susie Elizabeth Galloway, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Avon, Indiana, at the age of 93. Born on October 26, 1932, in Shilo, Maryland, she was the cherished daughter of the late Virgie and step-father, James Bean. Susie's journey through life was marked by her enduring strength, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and faith.
Susie's life was a testament to her resilience and the power of love. Though she was preceded in death by her beloved son James Oliver Chase, son Daniel C. Brown, son-in-law Larry Thomas, daughter-in-law Alimyon Brown, and her parents, she continued to nurture those around her with her boundless love. She is survived by her devoted children, Francis Brown, Thomas L. (Leona) Brown, Larry M. (Caryl) Brown, Sandra (Donald) Phillips, Elsie Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Chase. Susie was a loving sister to Clara Veronica Parker, Eleanor Louise Bean, James Bean, John Bean, and Joseph Bean. Her legacy will live on through her many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Susie's work in domestic housekeeping and nursing at her church were extensions of her caring nature. Her dedication to service was evident in every task she undertook, and her compassion touched the lives of many within her community. A devout Christian, Susie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a cherished member of Mount Moriah in Maryland and later, Allen Chapel AME in Indiana, where she found great joy in fellowship and worship.
Her interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. Susie had a passion for puzzle books, immersing herself in the challenge and satisfaction they brought. An avid reader and writer, she kept in touch with friends and family in Maryland through heartfelt letters. Known for her sense of style, Susie loved shopping and had an eye for jewelry that complemented her elegant fashion sense. Conversations with her sons over long-distance phone calls were treasured moments, filled with laughter and love.
Visiting her daughters and grandchildren brought Susie immense joy. She reveled in the simple pleasures of being with family, whether it was attending get-togethers or sharing stories. Her presence was a comforting and uniting force during these times. Susie's love for her family was her guiding light, and spending time with them was her greatest happiness.
Those who knew Susie will remember her as a loving, friendly, and faith-filled soul. She had the remarkable ability to make each person feel seen and valued, and her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Susie Elizabeth Galloway's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, friendship, and faith. She will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
