Obituary of Barbara Ann Carrico
Barbara Carrico (née Lekse), born October 21, 1940, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 18, 2025. An Indianapolis native, Barbara lived the American dream with her husband, Jim Carrico (1939-1997), and two sons, Bob and John, in Speedway, IN.
Barb was an avid caretaker of the motorsports community, always providing drivers and mechanics a place to stay and making biscuits and gravy for race day mornings. She was a faithful Christian who served the St. Christopher community with her love for Jesus Christ. Not a soul went hungry when Barb was in charge of the food for bingo, school, or other church events.
Barb loved her grandchildren — Austin, Lexi, Lucas, and Olivia. With Toy Story movie nights, homemade snickerdoodles, and a welcoming place for after school, she created core memories for the newest Carricos. She spent her final years sweeping bingo games, watching NASCAR, and enjoying brunch with her family.
Barb spent her final day with sons Bob and John and grandson Austin. In true Barb fashion, she departed after knowing they were fed.
