Theodore John Stupariu (TJ/Ted)
April 8, 1949 – October 15, 2025

Theodore “TJ” Stupariu, a proud United States Army veteran and decorated war hero, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6:31 p.m., surrounded by love. He was 76 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, TJ answered the call to serve his country with honor, courage, and unwavering commitment. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at a young age and went on to serve with distinction in the 1st Cavalry Division — “America's First Team.”

During his military career, he became part of the early Special Operations forces, serving as a paratrooper with approximately 150 jumps and a battlefield medic. He bravely served in two tours during the Vietnam War, earning the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat, along with numerous other commendations for his valor and service.

TJ dedicated his life to the Army, embodying its values long after retirement. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 8182 in Pompano Beach, Florida. His service shaped not only his life but also the lives of those fortunate to know him. His strength, resilience, and deep loyalty to his fellow soldiers were unwavering. He was a warrior to the end, and his love for his country never faltered.

Beyond his military career, TJ was a skilled cabinet craftsman and also served as a police officer for the Sunrise Police Department. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared an extraordinary love story with his late wife, Joann, the love of his life. Their bond was one of laughter, strength, and enduring devotion. He will be remembered for his humor, warmth, captivating stories, and fierce love for his family.

TJ faced the final years of his life with the same courage he displayed on the battlefield, walking through health challenges with determination. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional medical teams who cared for him with compassion, expertise, and love during his final journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice (Fietz) Stupariu, and his beloved wife of 46 years, Joanne. He is survived by his brother, Steven Stupariu; daughters, Theresa Stupariu and Allyson Rogers; and granddaughters, Julie Wise and her husband, Mark, and their children, Colin and Ethan; Jenny Eubanks; Jessica Lenz and her husband, Ron, and their children, Aurelia and Alice; and Jasmine Patterson.

A military honors service will be held at South Florida National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to VFW Post 8182, 243 S. Dixie Highway, Pompano Beach, FL 33060.

TJ will be remembered as a hero, a healer, and a beloved patriarch. His legacy of service, sacrifice, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

I didn’t know TJ for very long but I knew he was a great man. One to be admired, especially for his service. He was hilarious as well. Had plenty of great stories as his brother Steve(my idol) does. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. He definitely has left a whole in the heart of our family. We didn’t see much of Ted as he lived mostly in Florida and my family lives in Michigan. He was quite a funny guy and things were never dull when he was around. Talked to him a few times when he and Aunt Jo moved to Indiana. When she died we just lost touch. Well now he is with the love of his life. Rest In Peace Ted. Say Hello to Aunt Jo. Go soar high on angels wings!!
