Obituary of Beverly Rae Knorr
Beverly Rae “Bowles” Knorr, age 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 23, 1950, in Batesville, Indiana, Beverly was the daughter of Ralph and Glodene Bowles, who preceded her in death. She grew up on the west side of Indianapolis, attended Drexel Gardens School, and graduated from Ben Davis High School in May 1968.
Beverly began her working life in various roles, including a position at Emconite in 1972, where she assembled parts for the original Polaroid SX-70 camera. On December 8, 1978, she joined the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Building, where she dedicated 27 years of service. She retired on August 10, 2005, as Supervisor of the Cleaning Crew.
Known for her radiant smile, infectious humor, and generous heart, Beverly brought joy to everyone around her. She loved bowling, dancing, music, and being playfully silly with nieces and nephews. Her favorite pastime was playing Uno with family and friends, where laughter was always guaranteed.
Though she didn’t have children of her own, Beverly was a devoted sister, aunt, and great-aunt. She cherished her role in the lives of her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, lovingly referring to them as her “babies.”
She is survived by her sisters Janet (John) Taylor and Tina (Jeff) Bryant; Uncle James Boshears and Aunt Linda Boshears; nephews Chad Ellis, Joshua (Holly) Ellis, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Bryant; nieces Nichole Bryant (Nathan Burch) and Jessica (Ray) Mancini; seven great-nephews Braxtin, Kaleb, Aiden, Branley, Wyatt, Mason, and Brenden; and one great-niece Isabella Grace. She also leaves behind stepdaughters Lisa Gadberry and Sara Knorr, along with six step-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her sister Brenda Kay; grandparents Frank and Viola Bowles and Leroy and Sally Boshears; several aunts, uncles, cousins; a step-grandson; and her former husband Robert Knorr.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Claire Willard, nurse Julie Pickett, and the entire team at Brighton Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46224. Burial will follow at Brownsburg Cemetery.
