Obituary of Eileen Priest
Eileen Priest, a cherished matriarch, and a pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at her home in Avon, Indiana. She was born on July 21, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late John Jesse Vaugh and Anna Marie Daley. Eileen's journey
through life was marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and a tireless work ethic.
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Max Priest, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories. She was predeceased by her
daughter, Mary Clay, her five brothers, four sisters, and her parents. Eileen's legacy continues through her surviving children: Bill Lukins
of Grantown, W. VA; Jane (Mark) Haines of Warrenton, VA; Joe Lukins of Mt. Juliet, TN; and Joanne (Larry) Dockery of Avon, IN. She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and was blessed with many great and great-great-grandchildren. Eileen's extended family also includes her sister-in-law, Rita, numerous nieces and nephews, and a wealth of friends who will all miss her dearly.
For over 30 years, Eileen served as an inventory supervisor at Ransburg Electric, where her dedication and leadership were invaluable. Upon retirement, she embraced new challenges as an office manager for Dr. Joseph in Venice, Florida. Her passion for helping others led her to work at St. Stephen's Catholic Church Daycare in Nashville and later as a teacher's assistant in Mt. Juliet. Eileen eventually returned to Indianapolis, where she continued her vocation at St. Andrew's Daycare, also as a teacher's assistant.
Eileen's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through her actions, from her unwavering support of her family to her commitment to the children she nurtured throughout her career. Her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eileen's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family bonds, and the importance of community. She approached every
day with a smile, a kind word, and an open heart. Her impact on the lives she touched is immeasurable and her memory will be treasured
forever.
As we say goodbye to Eileen Priest, we celebrate a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Her journey on earth has ended, but her spirit
endures through the countless lives she enriched. Eileen's story does not end with her passing; it continues in the laughter of her grandchildren, the warmth of the friendships she nurtured, and the love that she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, but
her legacy will remain an inspiration to all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Eileen, until we meet again.
