This tribute is in honour of late Evangelist Alfred Olumuyiwa Dosekun, the father of Inioluwa Felix Dosekun, husband of Solape Dosekun and a righteous man of the people . He was a joyful, loving, and kind man, loved by good and hated by evil. My late favorite Evangelist, according to most people, was a diligent home maker and an astute community builder. He was a genuine human being whose “ charity began at home."
Your death, Uncle Alfred, was a surprise to all of us, but God knows better.
May your gentle and genial soul rest in perfect peace.
From Dame Mrs. Bridget ldahosa.
Layreader Dosekun was always full of energy each time he came into the Vestry, we would throw banters, greet ourselves warmly, he was very respectful to me and everyone. I saw in this brother each Sunday a great passion for service to his God and humanity. He had this "willing to do" spirit for Kingdom business.
He was a great socialite. He assisted many people in realizing their dreams and in settling down here in the US.
Heaven's gain and now earth's loss. The One who created Alfred has called him home. We have the consolation of the Resurrection morning when we shall meet and re-unite again!
Sleep on soldier of Christ, take your deserved rest. Till we meet to part no more.
May God comfort your wife Solape and son and give them the fortitude to hold on and to keep the flag of faith flying.

A Tribute to Evangelist Alfred Olumuyiwa (Olu Obe) Dosekun: A Church Father, Community Pillar, and Beloved Friend of All
Evangelist Alfred Olumuyiwa Dosekun was a man whose life could never be confined to the walls of a single church or the borders of one community. He was a beacon of light whose presence radiated love, wisdom, and spiritual depth wherever he went. To describe him simply as a church leader or a social figure would fall short of capturing the rich legacy he leaves behind. He was a father in the church, a champion in his community, and a bridge across generations, cultures, and social circles.
The Church Father with an Evangelist’s Fire
Evangelist Dosekun was more than a traditional minister of the Gospel; he was a spiritual patriarch to many. His passion for evangelism was not in word but in deed. He carried the good news of Christ with an unwavering zeal that ignited hearts and inspired transformation, not in scriptural exposition that conforms with modern church fathers but his was by example, embodying the very faith he preached. In his presence, young and old alike were drawn to the deeper truths of Scripture, not because he was loud, but because he was sincere. His voice carried authority not just from knowledge but from a life of obedience, compassion, and service.
He took personal interest in the wholistic growth of individuals. Whether in formal church gatherings or quiet personal encounters, he planted seeds of thoughtfulness and love that grew into lasting fruit. Many can testify that it was Evangelist Dosekun’s counsel or example that steered them back to God or deeper into faith. Like Jethro, the Midianite, he gave counsel not just to churches but to build people.
A Community Leader and Cross-Sectional Unifier
Outside the pulpit, Evangelist Dosekun was a man of the people. He understood that true ministry doesn’t end with the benediction on Sunday; it continues in the lives we touch throughout the week. He immersed himself in community affairs—not for personal gain, but out of a genuine desire to see people flourish. He was present at weddings, town meetings, naming ceremonies, cultural festivals, and support groups, always offering encouragement, humor, and goodwill.
What made him exceptional was his unique ability to connect with people across all walks of life. Whether with elders or youth, professionals or artisans, the highly educated or the unschooled, he moved freely and compassionately. He had no social boundaries in his heart. His friendships were as diverse as his talents, and he wore them all with grace.
A Blessed and Gifted Socialite
Evangelist Dosekun was also a blessed socialite—gifted not in shallow popularity, but in the sacred ability to bring people together. His presence at any gathering elevated the tone. He brought life to rooms, joy to occasions, and wisdom to deliberations. He carried an aura of royalty, yet remained remarkably humble and approachable.
His gift of hospitality was legendary. He made everyone feel welcomed, important, and seen. He was often the first to arrive and the last to leave—making sure no one was neglected. He celebrated with those who rejoiced, and sat silently with those who mourned. He had a smile that disarmed tension and a word that mended hearts.
A Man Who Cared Deeply and Was Deeply Loved
Above all, Evangelist Alfred Dosekun was a caring soul. He gave of himself—his time, his counsel, his resources—with no fanfare. He followed up when others forgot. He checked in when many drifted away. He remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and personal milestones not as a formality but as a heartfelt gesture of love.
He was beloved not just because of what he did, but because of who he was. His kindness was not calculated—it flowed from his being. He did not demand love; he inspired it. And in return, he was cherished—by his family, by the church, by his friends, and by the larger community.
Conclusion
As we remember Evangelist Alfred Olumuyiwa Dosekun, we do not mourn as those without hope, but we do feel the ache of his absence. He was a rare gift—one of those few souls who leave a permanent mark wherever they go. His life reminds us that greatness is not measured by titles or possessions, but by the lives we touch, the love we spread, and the faith we live.
His legacy is etched not just in church programs or civic records, but in the hearts of the many who called him “father,” “brother,” and “friend”. May we honor his memory by living with the same grace, passion, and compassion that defined his extraordinary journey on this earth.
May his soul rest in perfect peace and rise in glory. Amen.
