Obituary of Mary Catherine Endre
Mary Kay Endre, age 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025.
Born in the suburbs of Chicago, Mary Kay lived a life marked by deep care for those around her. She offered friendly support and found joy in life’s simple moments — from family holidays and bridge games to crossword puzzles and her dream of visiting Hawaii, which she held onto with hope and excitement.
She had a warmth that made people feel at home — through her comforting cooking, her clever wit, and her deep loyalty to those she loved. She was a devoted daughter who cared for her parents, Andrew and Ruth Ruff, through their final years, and she adored her loyal German shepherd, Benny. Her favorite color was yellow — a fitting reflection of the light she brought into the lives of others. Mary Kay was also a proud and steadfast fan of the Chicago Bears, a team she followed faithfully and loved to talk about, win or lose (mostly lose).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ruth Ruff, and her brother, Daniel Ruff.
She is survived by her children, David (Marsha), Andrea, and Timothy; her grandchildren, Alexander, Lily, Nathaniel, and Oliver; her brother Larry Ruff (Patricia); her sisters Sue Turnquist (Vince) and Lori York (Chris); and her former husband, Alan Endre — along with a circle of extended family, dear friends, and longtime neighbors.
In her final chapter, Mary Kay’s courage never wavered. Even in illness, she remained present, thoughtful, and loving — a testament to the life she lived.
In her honor, the family invites you to do something Mary Kay would have appreciated: share a home-cooked meal, call someone you care about, or talk a little football — especially if it’s about the Bears.
She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, inner strength, and selfless love — and she will be deeply missed.
