Obituary of Donna M. Scheller
Donna Marie Scheller, 86, of Avon, passed away on June 19, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1939 in Jennings County, IN to Henry N. and Esther (Imming) Sandhage, both preceding her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Betty Sandhage and Barbara Sandhage.
Donna grew up on a farm in Southern Indiana and was a graduate of Hayden High School. She worked at Cummins Engine Company.
Donna met the love of her life, Ralph, at a Rural Youth dance in North Vernon. They were married in 1960 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hayden, IN. They raised their children on a farm near Columbus, IN. Donna enjoyed raising flowers, gardening and watching her hummingbirds.
Donna loved visiting friends, playing cards and taking family vacations. Later, she and Ralph became snowbirds to Treasure Island, FL, and continued traveling. In 2000, they moved to Avon, IN, and became parishioners of St. Christopher Church.
Donna is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Ralph Scheller; children, Rob (Kim) Scheller of Avon, IN; Chris (Mike) Legge of Avon, IN; Curt (Erin) Scheller of Westfield, IN; and Susan (James) Breuer of Fenton, MO; grandchildren, Alex, Nathan, Elizabeth and Anneliese Legge; Alan, Holly and Jesse Scheller; and David Breuer; and her brothers, Kenneth Sandhage and Henry J. Sandhage.
Memorial contributions in honor of Donna Scheller can be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church 5301 W. 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN or to a charity of your choice.
