
Obituary of Taeko Cmehil
Taeko (Suzuki) Cmehil, 94, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 7th, 2025, after a long and adventurous life.
Born on October 2nd, 1930, in Japan, Taeko spent her childhood and early adulthood there. It was in Japan that she met her beloved husband, Joseph Cmehil. With courage and love, she left her homeland and moved with him to Indiana, where they built a life filled with travel, family, and connection. The couple returned to Japan several times over the years, cherishing both their shared roots and new experiences abroad.
Taeko had a deep love of gardening and was known for her beautiful landscaped yard. She and Joe remained close with their extended family, often visiting with nieces and nephews and hosting joyful gatherings. Taeko adored her little white poodle, Petite, who was her constant companion and the light of her life.
She found great joy in sharing meals and laughter with friends and family, especially at MCL Cafeteria and the local China Buffet. A savvy shopper with an eye for a good deal, she enjoyed her outings on the town.
Taeko was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Cmehil, her parents and two brothers, In-Laws Buddy and Patty Lynch, Donnie and Patty Cmehil and Edward Cmehil. She is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Cmehil, sister-in-law Bernadine Cmehil and many cherished nieces and nephews: Michael Cmehil, Kathy Cmehil, Donnie Cmehil, Edward Cmehil, Bernadette Beaman, Melissa Bolen, Bridget Zimmerman, Teresa Kilgore, Colleen Crawford Jung, Deborah Cmehil Jackson, Diana Bishop, Barbara Lodge, and Clarice Cmehil, an extended family back in Japan, and a large extended family.
Taeko will be remembered for her warmth, strength. and vibrant spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories.
