Obituary of George Edward Jackson

G. Edward “Ed” Jackson, 86, of Jamestown, IN passed away on March 24, 2025. He was born in Sebring, OH to George Edwin “Jud” Jackson and Evelyn (Eels) Jackson on June 25, 1938.

Ed served in the National Guard for two years and then served in the US Navy. Among other assignments Ed spent time on the USS Kitty Hawk.

Ed’s career of 55 years was in the Insurance Industry including owning Manhattan Insurance Service for many years in Toledo, OH & Executive Director of Fellowship of Christian Ministers in Indianapolis. He attended Lincoln Christian College; preached several years at Nevins Christian Church in Paris, IL and remained active in the church his entire life as Sunday school teacher, church deacon, church elder & volunteer. He loved sports, hunting, fishing, trapping, hot rods, model planes, model trains, model rockets, Ham radio (W8WJ); and practical jokes, especially on April 1 around midnight. He loved his kids, grandkids, great grandkids and his wife. But mostly he loved Jesus and would often say he just wanted to get to heaven to be with Jesus.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; and sister Jean Fawley. He is survived by his wife Barbara Jackson of Jamestown, IN; children Jeff (Terri) Jackson of Enola, PA, Chris (Haiyan) Jackson of Indianapolis, IN and Ardis (Erik) Yoder of Jamestown, IN; sister Peggy Beamer; seven grandchildren and seven- and one-half great-grandchildren.
